Membership in the Illinois Coal Association is comprised of two categories, Company Membership and Associate Membership.

Company Membership - Companies mining coal or intending to mine coal in the future are eligible for full membership in the Illinois Coal Association. Annual dues are based on each company's tonnage produced or, in the case of a company not yet producing coal, on a minimum annual assessment.

Associate Membership - Associate members may be any firm, business, corporation or individual with an interest, direct or indirect, in the Illinois coal industry.

Associate membership categories are:

• Coal reserve holders - owning or holding leases on coal
  reserves in Illinois. $3,000 per year.
• Mining industry service companies - coal transportation
  companies, coal sales companies, coal processing companies, mining equipment manufacturers, suppliers, service or maintenance companies, consulting firms, engineering firms, contractors, insurance or bonding companies, etc. $1,500 per year.
